EROSION, INSECUITY & INFRASTRUCTURAL DECAY ARE PROBLEMS OF ANAMBRA — GOV SOLUDO TELLS DEVPT PARTNERS

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State says his administration is fully prepared and committed to bringing positive development projects to the people of the state.

The Governor stated this when he received some International Developmental partners who visited him at Government House, Awka.

While welcoming the visitors, Professor Soludo harped on the need for a strategic robost partnership with the partners, which he noted would bring positive changes that would be beneficial to the people of Anambra and Nigeria at large.

Governor Soludo, while saying that cities like Nnewi and Onitsha were being ascribed as commercial nerve centres of the state with enormous potential for investment, described the people of Anambra as the most enterprising in the country.

The Anambra State Governor identified erosion menace, insecurity and infrastructural decay, especially roads, as impediments and challenges militating against the growth of the area, hence the need for the partnership.

The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, received the visitors in his palace.

There, the Governor explained that the foreign partners came to Anambra State to have their own assessment that would enable them to determine how to provide their own strategic intervention to the State.

The Monarch, while welcoming the visitors, noted that the visit was unprecedented since the creation of Anambra State.

Igwe Achebe gave a brief history of Onitsha, its values and traditionsand presented two books to the visitors, encompassing the rich cultural heritage of the people.

Igwe Achebe appealed to the Governor to maintain his promises of extending his development agenda to the area.

The Governor took his visitors on a tour of Okpoko flood channels, showcasing to them the progress of work in desilting and evacuation of waste along the canals.

The Governor expressed optimism that the area would soon be transformed to an area where everyone would be proud and desirous to live in.
