NSCDC CONFISCATES 7 TRUCKS OF ADULTERATED DIESEL IN IMO

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Imo State Command, has intercepted seven trucks loaded with over three hundred thousand litres of suspected adulterated automotive gas oil also known as diesel.
The State Commandant of the Corps, Mr. Mathew Ovye, Announced this while briefing journalists at the Command’s headquarters in Owerri.
He said the seizure was made following a tip off to the intelligence team of the Commandant General of the Corps, who kept vigil till around 3am to intercept the product.
Mr. Ovye explained that the trucks were loaded with products of illegal refineries in Rivers State and were heading for Abuja, Niger and Anambra states before they were caught at Spibat area in Amakohia Road, Owerri.
He said the twelve suspects arrested in connection with the crime would appear in court as soon as investigations were over.
Some of the suspects, who spoke with our Correspondent, claimed that they were not aware of the source of the product and pleaded for mercy.
