NYSC TRUST FUND WILL ADDRESS INFRASTRUCTURAL CHALLENGES FACING THE SCHEME — DG
REPORTER: CHINAZO ILECHUKWU
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) wants stakeholders in the scheme to throw their weight behind the planned establishment of a trust fund to boost its operations.
The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier- General Muhammad Fadah, made the call in a message to the opening of an orientation course for 2022 “Batch B Stream One” Corps members deployed to Imo State.
General Fadah, whose message was delivered at the NYSC Orientation camp in Eziama Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area by the Coordinator of the Scheme in the state, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, said that legislation for the establishment of the trust fund had reached an advanced stage.
He expressed the optimism that the measure would address infrastructural challenges affecting the scheme.
The NYSC boss urged corps members to take advantage of the skills acquisition programmes available in the camp to better their lots, noting that the era of graduates waiting for white collar jobs was over.
The Director General advised the corps members to maintain discipline and abide by camp rules, warning that the scheme would not tolerate any form of anti-social behaviour.
One thousand, one hundred and seventy-five corps members took oath of allegiance during the exercise.
