EBONYI GOVERNOR’S WIFE INAUGURATES NEW OFFICE COMPLEX

The Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs. Rachael Umahi, has called on female members of the state Executive Council to come up with policies and programmes that will better the lots of women and children as the state Governor plans to prioritize their welfare ahead of 2023.

Mrs. Umahi stated this during the inauguration of her new office complex built by the state government at Centenary City, Abakaliki.

The new office of the wife of the State Governor was among numerous offices constructed in the premises of new Government House located at Centenary City in Abakaliki.

Mrs. Umahi explained that the administration of her husband had in the last seven years implemented programmes and policies aimed at lifting women and children out of poverty and health challenges.

She noted that the ultra modern office was to give women in the state a sense of belonging.

The Governor’s wife charged the Ministry of Women Affairs to initiate programmes to further improve their economic condition.

The Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria in the state, Mrs. Chinyere Iyioku, explained that the state government had surpassed the threshold in the country’s affirmative action by giving women in the state forty percent in elective and appointive positions.

The State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Chinwe Okah, urged women in the state to see the new office complex as a rallying point, noting that it was a reflection of the developmental strides of the Governor David Umahi led administration in all sectors of the state.

In a word of exaltation, the South East Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Reverend Father Abraham Nwali, urged the country to take further steps towards mainstreaming women in political governance to move Nigeria forward.
