2 HOSPITAL WORKERS, A MOTHER IN POLICE NET FOR ALLEGED SALE OF 2 BABIES IN EBONYI

Police in Ebonyi State have arrested three female suspects in connection with alleged trafficking of two babies.

The babies were between two weeks and three days old.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Loveth Odah, noted that two of the suspects were members of staff of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (AE-FUNAI) Nwezenyi annex.

The statement alleged that the remaining suspect, one Ndidiamaka Emeka, who appeared to be the biological mother of one of the babies, connived with the two staff to sale her baby boy for four hundred thousand Naira.

The statement further explained that one of the suspects, who is a member of staff of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital had before buying the baby, visited a Maternity where the said Ndidiamaka delivered her baby boy and paid her hospital bill of fourteen thousand Naira.

It stated that the suspects were arrested following a tip off by the relations of Ndidiamaka, who were worried that she did not come home with her new born while circumstances surrounding the trafficking of the second baby was still under investigation.
