ENUGU SOUTH COUNCIL BOSS DONATES 4 PATROL VANS TO POLICE, VIGILANCE GROUP, FOREST GUARDS

The Chairman, Enugu South Local Government Area, Mr. Monday Eneh, has donated four operational vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force, Awkunanaw Division, Neighborhood Watch Association and the Forest Guard, Enugu South, to strengthen security in the area.
The Chairman, presented the vehicles after a meeting with heads of various security agencies in the area at the Council’s headquarters, Uwani.
Two of the vehicles were presented to the Neighborhood Watch Association, Enugu South L.G.A, one each to the Nigeria Police, Awkunanaw Division, and the Forest Guard.
Presenting the vehicles, the Chairman, Enugu South L.G.A, Mr. Monday Eneh, said the gesture was in keeping with the mandate of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to ensure safety of the people.
“It’s in emulation of the good work of His Excellency, in the State who’s to me a role model that in consideration of the level and height of the insecurity in Nigeria and the Enugu State in particular today, that myself, the team I work with, security agents, that we’ve decided to make available these vehicles to facilitate the work of the security agents that all these while have been of immense support to us in our effort to combat crime and to offer our little effort to and assistance in subduing the security challenges that are facing us today,” he stated.
While noting tha, the Council had also carried out capacity building workshop for the security personnel in the area, and renovated the DDS office at the Council’s headquarters, the Council boss, tasked the security operatives to sustain the gains recorded, while urging them to work in synergy to tackle the security challenges confronting the country.
The Chairman further noted that the Council had also carried out security sensitization of the nine rural communities in the council area, and gathered data of residents to be able to respond to security situations more effectively.
Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, the Divisional Police Officer, Awkunanaw Division, Mr. Emmanuel Obasi, commended the Council Chairman for the gesture while reiterating the commitment of security operatives in the area to combat crimes and criminality.
“I want to thank the Local Government Chairman of this Local Government, because he has been very, very wonderful to us. We know the nature of this place where we work. His being a local chairman is a blessing to the people of this area. He has been very, very wonderful to us, very close to us.
“The little effort we’re making is just because of the way he has been assisting us and I use this opportunity to talk to my colleagues, yes! It’s only together we can reduce the rate of crime in this area; it’s not something the police alone can do, it is not something we can do and anybody will get up tomorrow and claim championship.
“I urge everybody to come together so that with that togetherness we reduce the crime rate in this area.”
The event attracted dignitaries, including the Chairman Ohaneze Ndigbo, Enugu South, Chief Emma Ugwu.
