ABIA FA REMOVES CHAIRMAN

Members of Abia State Football Association, FA, say they have impeached the chairman of the Association, Dr. Obioma Onyeaghala.

The impeachment was announced during the 2025 extraordinary congress of the association held at its secretariat in Umuahia.

His impeachment followed a motion moved by the Chairman of Abia Angels Football Club, Johnson Nwosu, and seconded by the Secretary of Enyimba FC, Onyukwu Onyeke.

The members alleged abuse of office, disrespect to authorities, financial mismanagement, insensitivity to the association’s assets and poor working relationship with stakeholders amongst others.

In a swift reaction, Dr. Onyeaghala, who assumed office in May 2023, dismissed his impeachment, insisting that he remains the legitimate chairman until his tenure expires in May 2027.

According to the embattled Chairman, his removal is illegal and engineered by impostors.
