FLIGHT OPERATIONS TO COMMENCE IN EBONYI BY AUGUST

Flight operations are to recommence at Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo International Airport Onueke in Ebonyi State in August this year as reconstruction work on its runway nears completion.

Conducting journalists on the Airport runway, the State Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, Dr Ngozi Obichukwu, explained that the state government was reconstructing the runway from concrete pavement to asphalt with the project at 85% completion stage.

Dr. Obichukwu boasted that when completed, the runway would be one of the best in the country and would change the dynamics of air transportation in the South East and South South geopolitical zones.

She pointed out that the state government was also making plans to float an Airline, which would further boost the economic potential of the Airport.

It can be recalled that Ebonyi State Government embarked on the reconstruction of the runway at cost of 13 billion naira following complaints by airline operators that its surface was not safe for flight landing procedure.
