EBONYI STATE GOVT IN NEGOTIATES WITH INDUSTRIAL PHARMACISTS TO DEVELOP PHARMACEUTICAL PARK

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

Ebonyi State Government and the Nigeria Association of Industrial Pharmacists are to fine tune their commitment for the establishment of a multi billion Naira Pharmaceutical Park in Ntezi Community in Ishielu Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking with journalists shortly after a close door meeting with Governor Francis Nwifuru at the Government House Abakaliki, a Team Lead of Pharmaceutical Investors, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, explained that the joint project would see the state government provide road infrastructure and other amenities at the site.

He noted that it was the intention of the investors to develop a reputable Saltcity Pharma Park that would serve as a hub for investors in Pharmaceutical Chain across the globe.

Mazi Ohuabunwa said Ebonyi was chosen for the project considering its readiness to offer incentives and the road infrastructure put in place by the State government.

He noted that when completed, the Park would fill the void created by the exit of some Pharmaceutical Companies from Nigeria, emphasising that thousands of job would be created through the opportunity.

He said Pharmaceutical Chain does not respect geographical boundaries, noting that with enhanced logistics, the movement of finished products and raw materials would not be a challenge.

According to Mazi Ohuabunwa, the team will attract the presence of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, Global Pharmaceutical Raw Material Producers and complimentary product industrialists.
