FEB 3 BYE ELECTION: INEC DISTRIBUTES SENSITIVE MATERIALS IN EBONYI

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has distributed sensitive material for the conduct of the Saturday February 3, 2024 Senatorial Bye Election in Ebonyi South District.

During the exercise at Central Bank of Nigeria Abakaliki, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mrs. Pauline Onyeka, said the materials, which included ballot papers and Result sheets would be moved to the affected five Local Government Areas for onward redistribution to Registration Area Centres.

She pointed out that the Bi-modal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS) machines and other non sensitive materials had been moved to the Council Areas while adequate security arrangement had been made to protect them.

The Labour Party (LP) Chairman in the State, Mr. Godwin Erekezoke, who was among personalities that witnessed the distribution, described the exercise as transparent and urged INEC to sustain the tempo.

The agent of People’s Democratic Party (PDP),

Mr. Joseph Nwogha, who also monitored the distribution, appealed to INEC and Security Agents to ensure a level playing field for all the candidates.

Security Agents were also on hand to witness the distribution of the material.

Eight political parties will participate in the Bye Election in Ebonyi South.
