FOREIGN MEDICAL OUTREACH SET OUT FOR 1,000 GENERAL CONSULTATIONS, SURGERIES IN ABIA

A 14- day free foreign humanitarian Belgian medical mission in collaboration with Abia State Government has commenced in the state.

The medical mission targets over one thousand general consultations.

Speaking with newsmen at the Federal Medical Center, Umuahia, the leader of the team Dr. DE GEZELLE HERMAN said they were in the state to conduct over sixty surgeries for the less privileged and general consultation without age bracket for the beneficiaries.

Dr. HERMAN explained that the area of concentrations of the Belgian Medical Mission were Hernia repairs and Hydroceles, Fibroma and Caesarean operations among others.

He noted that they had carried out such mission in other African countries, including Ivory Coast, Benin Republic, Madagascar, Morocco, and the Gambia.

In a separate Contributions, some members of the team, including Dr. Smart Oriaku and Mr. Owen Okechukwu Eme commended the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for his support to the team.

They explained that the Medical outreach is their own way of giving back to the society and thanked the Chief Medical Director of FMC Umuahia Professor Azubuike Onyebuchi for providing the Centre for the team.

For his part, the Head Government House Clinic, Dr. Idika Mba Idika, said the humanitarian mission was in line with the effortd of the Governor Alex Otti’s commitment in providing good health care to the people of the state.

Dr. Idika noted that the state government had created condusive environment for the free humanitarian services to be a success in the state.
