DON’T FORGET FAMILIES OF FALLEN HEROES: CHIEF IMAM BEGS GOVT

The Chief Imam Umuahia Central Mosque, Alhaji Aminu Lawan, wants government at all levels to always remember the families of heroes who laid down their lives in defence of their father land.

Alhaji Lawan stated this during a jumat prayer to mark the 2024 Armed Forces and Remembrance Day at the Umuahia Central Mosque, Abia State.

He noted that most of the families of the departed soldiers were facing untold hardship as a result of the death of their bread winners and urged government to ensure they take good care of the families.

The Chief Imam while praying for the souls of the fallen heroes called on the security agencies to redouble their efforts in the fight against all forms of criminality ravaging the country.

He also used the occasion to pray for peace, unity and progress of the country and enjoined Nigerians to support federal government’s renewed hope agenda.

Speaking after the prayer, the Secretary to the Abia State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, represented by the Permanent Secretary office of the SSG, Mrs. Ogechukwu Maduka, stated that government would continue to assist security agencies in the fight against insecurity as well as improved welfare of its personnel

Correspondent reports that the prayer was attended by some tpp service personnel drawn from the Nigerian Army, the Navy, Police and other para-military agencies in the state.
