GOV OTTI PRESENTS 567.2 BILLION BUDGET, VOWS NOT TO BORROW

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has presented the 2024 budget totaling 567.2 billion naira to the state House of Assembly.
Addressing members of the House, Governor Otti said that 84% of the figure would be for expenditure on capital projects while 16% would go for recurrent expenditure.
According to the Governor, the 2024 budget of 567.2 billion naira is 47% forty higher than the 2023 budget of 160.5 billion naira.
He noted that under his administration no money would be borrowed for recurrent expenditure.
Governor Otti pointed out that his administration had contributed a lot to the improvement of health and education sectors as well as security of lives and property of the people of the state.
He noted that plans were underway to revamp some moribund industries in the state in order to boost production of goods and services.
Receiving the 2024 appropriation bill, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa, thanked the Governor for presenting the budget and assured that the House would ensure speedy acceleration of the bill.
