FRSC RECORDS 25 DEATHS, ARRESTS 1,953 DEFAULTERS IN ANAMBRA

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command says it recorded a total of 97 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs), in which 820 person’s were involved.
Of this figure, 25 of the RTCs were fatal, claiming the lives of 35 persons while 270 persons were injured.
The Sector Commander, FRSC Anambra State Command, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, made this known to journalists in Awka while recounting the activities of the Command so far this year.
According to Mr. Irelewuyi, it shows there is a significant improvement and reduction when compared with 2022 records where they had 132 RTCs involving 1,048 persons, with 42 of them fatal, claiming the lives of 64 persons and injuring 306 persons.
In the face of security threats and high risks to personnel safety, the Anambra Sector Commander said it remained undaunted in its efforts to drastically reduce RTCs and create safer motoring environment.
The FRSC boss also explained, that the command arrested 1,953 offenders with 2,119 offences from January to 30th November, 2023 and impounded 332 vehicles.
He said, it also showed an improvement when compared to the year 2022 where we recorded 1,381 offenders arrested with 1,493 offences and 382 impoundments.
Mr. Irelewuyi assured that the Command would continue to strive harder to ensure the achievement of the Corps’ Corporate Strategic goals as well as the United Nations target of reduction of RTC by 50% by the year 2030.
The Sector Commander urged commuters to drive safely as the Yuletide approaches because only the living celebrates.
