LIGHTNING KILLS 3 STUDENTS IN ANAMBRA
Three students have lost their lives after they were struck by lightning on Saturday in Awka, Anambra State.
The students were playing football in their school field before a heavy rain came with lightning and accompanied by clapping thunderstorm.
Nine of them, who were struck, were rushed to hospital but three of them were declared dead by a medical doctor.
Six other students are still receiving medical attention as parents and residents trooped to the hospital to sympathize with the bereaved families.
According to an eye witness, the school coach ended a training session with them before the rain started while the nine of them continued playing football in the field.
It was not long before the lightning struck, and they were rushed to a mission hospital where six of them were revived.
Meanwhile in a telephone conversation, the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, said the was unaware of the incident.
