STEER CLEAR OF ABIA — POLICE WARN CRIMINAL ELEMENTS

The Police Command Abia State has arrested one Francis William for alleged vandalism of electricity transformer in Aba.

Parading the suspect and other suspected criminals in Umuahia, the command’s Public Relations officer, Mr. Maureen Chinaka, said the suspect was arrested while trying to steal the transformer, which belonged to Aba Power company.

He noted that the suspect is a dismissed Police officer from the command.

The PPRO stated that the command equally arrested five suspected armed robbers who had allegedly been terrorizing residents of Aba and its environs in the last few months.

The Police also paraded one Chukwuemeka London for allegedly being in possession of firearms without license.

The police warned criminal elements to stay away from Abia State, noting that their operatives were ever ready to deal decisively with anyone caught in criminal act.

In an interview, one of the suspects Chukwuemeka London, denied being involved in any criminal act, stating that he was only a local Hunter with a local single barrel gun for his hunting in the bush

Items displayed to have been recovered from the suspects included one sienna vehicle, a motorcycle, a vandalized electricity transformer, police uniform, two locally made single barrel gun, two short local gun with cartridges, POS machines, ATM cards and some quantities of substances suspected to be weeds.
