ANAMBRA GOVT SUPPORTS MISSION SCHS WITH OVER N1.5 BN

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has presented cheques worth N1,524,000,000.00 to mission schools in the area as part of measures to improve the quality of education and school infrastructure.

Eight schools returned to Salvation Army Schools received a total sum of N16,000,000.00 while 275 schools returned to Anambra Anglican Mission Public Schools received a total sum of N550,000,000.00.

449 schools returned to Anambra Catholic Mission Public Schools also received a total sum of N918,000,000.00.

20 schools initially owned by Anambra Pentecostal Schools received a total sum of N40,000,000.00 forty million naira.

A breakdown of the figure indicated that a total of seven hundred and sixty two Mission Schools in Anambra State received N2,000,000.00 each from the state government.

On the occasion, which was held at Government Lodge, Amawbia, the Governor remarked that the education sector remained one large sector, for which his administration had a great committment to.

He also extolled churches for their active participation in the health sector, but bemoaned pitiable condition of public owned schools and hospitals.

Professor Soludo, however, assured the people that all general hospitals would be solar powered while citizens, especially the downtrodden would soon enjoy access to qualitative healthcare and education systems.

In a speech, the Chairman of PFN, Anambra State Chapter, Bishop Moses Ezedebego on behalf of all Anambra Mission Schools, said that the Governor had demonstrated leadership.

He stressed that the Governor had wiped the tears of uncountable millions of poor families in Anambra State, adding that his deeds would remain indelible in the annals of the State history.
