SIX LANE ROAD:GOV OTTI KICK STARTS DEMOLITION OF 130 STRUCTURES

Abia State Government has commenced the demolition of one hundred and thirty buildings for the construction of six lanes on a 3.5 kilometer Okpara Square -Ossah -Express Tower Road.

The measure is to ease vehicular movement and enhance the beauty of Umuahia, the state capital.

Speaking at the official commencement of the exercise in Umuahia, Governor Aex Otti explained that the payment of compensation to owners of the 130 structures marked for demolition had been made and urged those yet to receive their payment alerts to exercise patience as the delay could be from their financial institutions.

The Governor noted that the six lane road project would be delivered according to specification and time frame.

He expressed the hope that, when completed, the project would help create greater economic opportunities for residents of the state.

Governor Otti announced that same road expansion projects would be extended to Onuimo the boundary of Abia and Imo State.

He stressed that Umuikaa-Obikabia-Umuene – Ukaegbu road to Aba down to Ikot Ekpene road as alternative into Akwa Ibom State to decongest Aba the commercial nerve centre of the state, would also be expanded..

Earlier, The Commissioner for works, Mr. Dom Otumchere Oti, maintained that the six lane road, expected to unlock the economic potential of Umuahia, would stand the taste of time when completed.
