NYSC HOLDS FREE MEDICAL SERVICES IN ABIA COMMUNITY

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has said his administration will continue to place top priority on the provision of adequate healthcare facility to the citizens.

The Governor stated this at a one day free healthcare Iniatiative for Rural Dwellers organised by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)at Umuehim in Nvosi in Isialangwa South Local Government Area of the state.

The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Nwaobilor Ananaba, commended NYSC for organizing the programme and called on communities and non-governmental organizations to partner NYSC in its efforts towards actualizing improved healthcare services to the people.

In a remark, the state Coordinator NYSC in Abia State, Mrs. Ufuoma Dick, noted that the aim of the programme was to mobilize corps medical personnel, along side medical equipment and supplies, generously contributed by compassionate Nigerians, with the goal of providing free medical services to the underserved rural communities in the state.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, some of the beneficiaries of the free health programme, expressed joy for being part of the event.

The NYSC free medical community Health programme comprises free medical consultation, free laboratory test, free treatment and free dispensing of drugs to patients.
