ABIA ASSEMBLY AMENDS 2023 APPROPRIATION BILL

Abia State House of Assembly has passed the state 2023 Appropriation Amendment bill.
The bill seeks to authorize the virement of the sum of N20,263,269,900.00 to the services of the state government for the year ending 31st December, 2023.
Leading the debate on the bill, the Majority Leader and member representing Arochukwu constituency, Mr. Uchenna Kalu, explained that the essence of the bill was to appropriate funds to the state government to enable it to execute critical projects and programmes.
He called on his colleagues to give the bill accelerated passage in the interest of the masses.
Addressing members of the house after the third reading and passage of the bill, the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Austin Okezie, who presided over the plenary thanked his colleagues for their contributions.
During plenary, the House entertained the presentation of the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper by the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Kingsley Anosike.
The House adjourned sitting until September 19, 2023.
