ANAMBRA ASSEMBLY URGES SOLUDO TO BUILD GENERAL HOSPITAL IN NNEWI

The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on the executive arm of government to commence the establishment of a General Hospital in Nnewi North Local Government Area.
This, they say, is to bring healthcare services closer to the people.

Ikedi representing Nnewi North Constituency, cited some sections of the 1999 constitution of the country as amended, which affirmed that “government shall provide adequate medical and health facilities for all persons” but expressed regret that his constituents were not benefiting optimally from the provisions.
According to Mr. Ikedi, though Nnewi North has a Federal Government Teaching Hospital, the establishment of a general hospital in the area will help to reduce the loads and pressure presently on the existing facility in the town.
Mr. Ikedi noted that the people had already donated land for the purpose and were willing to partner the government in building the relevant structures once the Soludo led administration approved of it.
The member representing Ihiala Constituency II, Mr. Golden Iloh; his counterpart from Awka South Constituency I, Mr. Henry Mbachu, and Mr. Chidi Ibemeka representing Njikoka Constituency I, observed that the Teaching Hospital was being over stretched by patients, hence his support for the establishment of a General Hospital in the area.
Some other lawmakers, including Mr. Noble Igwe of Ogbaru Constituency I and Mr. Jude Akpua representing Njikoka Constituency II, alongside the member representing Aguata Constituency II, who is Chairman House Committee on Health, Mr Tony Moubike, all pointed out that establishment of a General Hospital in Nnewi, would in turn improve affordability of healthcare services of the people.
They all noted that the delay to see a doctor could kill as early detection of ailment would bring healing to patients.
Meanwhile, the House Committee on Public Petition, submitted two reports bothering on alleged unlawful closure of a school in Onitsha by the Commissioner for Education without proper investigation and the alleged illegal extortion and arbitrary levy collections from Joint Transporters Forum of Anambra State.
