REPORTER: JOHN MADUAGWU
The 5th of September, 2023, has been fixed for adoption of final written addresses by the parties in the petition filed by Chief Ikechi Emenike and the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Governor Alex Otti and five other respondents.
Chairman of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Abia State, Justice H.T.D Gwadah, gave the ruling after the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and Mr. Chima Nwafor, who are the 6th and 7th respondents in the matter, opened and closed their defense.
Their counsel, Mr. Ladu Martins, had at the commencement of proceedings, announced that they would not be calling any witnesses, which not only ended their defense, but also signalled the end of hearing in the petition.
