GUBER ELECTION WILL BE A DEPARTURE FROM LAST PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION — INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Ebonyi State has reassured the people of the state that it is ready to conduct a free, fair and credible election that will be a complete departure from the challenges witnessed during the Presidential election.

The Head Voter Education and Publicity INEC, Ebonyi State, Dr. Christian Elekwa, stated this during an interview with Radio Nigeria in Abakaliki.

Dr. Elekwa noted that all the sensitive materials had been deployed to the Registration Area Centres (RACS) across the state to enable the Presiding officers to pick them up and arrive in their various units by 8am.

He pointed out that the Bimodal Verification and Accreditation System (BIVAS) had been reconfigured to work perfectly while the Presiding Officers would be provided with relevant codes to enable them upload results in real time and paste same on the wall at the polling booths.

Dr. Elekwa said casting of ballots would commence by 8;30am while those on the queue before 2;30pm must be allowed to vote until the last person.

Investigations reveal that One million five hundred and sixty three thousand, five hundred and twenty nine registered voters in the state while election will take place in two thousand nine hundred and forty six polling units.
