REPORTER: AMECHI ODO
The National Youth Service Corps has extended the service year of nineteen corps members for committing sundry offences in Ebonyi State.
The Coordinator of NYSC in the State, Mrs. Bamai Mercy made this known while addressing Batch A Stream 2 Corps members who passed out after their one year mandatory service year.
Mrs. Mercy noted that 649 corps members passed out, emphasising that eight absconded and would have their service year repeated in the state.
Mrs. Mercy commended the Corps members for their active participation in the just concluded General Election and urged those who want to stay back for the March 11 polls to be guided by the extant rules set for election.
She advised them to be good ambassadors of the scheme and urged those who want to venture into business to approach the Scheme with their business proposals to enable them to secure credit facilities from some financial institutions.
Some of the successful corps members, including Miss Catherine Anikwa and Mr. Edosawusa Giedowa, said they were excited to have completed their service year in Ebonyi State and promised to continue to work for the unity and development of Nigeria.
