LP CANDIDATE BEATS ABIA SPEAKER TO CLINCH IKWUANO/UMUAHIA FED CONST SEAT

Chief Obinna Aguocha of the Labour Party (LP) has emerged winner of the House of Representatives for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency election held on 25th February 2023 in Abia State.

Declaring the result at INEC office in Umuahia, the Returning Officer of the election, Professor Uma Kalu Oke, said Chief Aguocha polled a total of 48,199 votes to beat his closets rival, Chief Chinedum Orji of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and current Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, who scored 35,196 to come second while Chief Ogbonnaya Obilor of All Progressives Congress (APC) came third with 4,042.

Radio Nigeria observed that agents of various political parties, security personnel and journalists were present during the announcement of the result.
