ELECTION SECURITY: AIR FORCE DEPLOYS FIGHTER JET IN EBONYI

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

The Nigeria Airforce (NAF) has deployed a fighter jet to ward off suspected bandits and non state actors threatening to disrupt election in Ebonyi State.

Governor David Umahi announced this at an emergency security meeting with Heads of Security Agencies at Government House Abakaliki.

He emphasised that the jet would be flying very low round the state during the poll but urged the residents not to panic as it was meant to protect them against possible threats.

He reitrated his call on security agencies to be fair to all political parties but to demobilize any unauthorized persons found with arms irrespective of party affiliations.

Governors Umahi charged security agencies to ensure effective implementation of no movement order by the Federal Government and ensure that eligible voters were given unfettered access to the poll in line with the electoral guidline.

He raised alarm on the infiltration of fake election ibservers and charged the police to reaccredit them to ensure that those with genuine mission were allowed to participate in the exercise.
