REPORTER: CHINAZO ILECHUKWU

Collation of results for Presidential elections in Imo State is in progress.

As at the time of filling this report results from seven of the twenty seven local government areas in the state have been collated.

The State Collation Officer and Vice Chancellor Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Prof. Charles Esimone, expressed regret about the late commencement of the process and urged political party agents to ensure decorum in their conduct.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Imo State, Professor Sylvia Agu, explained that elections could not take place in some polling units in the state due to logistics problems, noting that Electoral Officers in charge of the affected local government areas had been directed to compile the list of the polling units.

Meanwhile, some party agents contested the result from Orsu Local goverynment Area which produced 49 votes arguing that voting did not take place in the area.

However the party agent of the APC who hails from Orsu Local Government Area, contended that the result was a reflection of the nagging insecurity in the area and called for wholistic confrontation of insurgency caused by non state actors in the area.
