NYSC DEMANDS PATRIOTISM AS IT DEPLOYS 1,003 CORPS MEMBERS TO IMO

REPORTER: CHINAZO ILECHUKWU

The 2022 “Batch C Stream II” National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to Imo State have been urged to promote national unity and integration in line with the objectives of the scheme.

The Acting Director General of the NYSC, Mrs. Christy Uba, gave the charge in a message to the opening of orientation course for the batch at the Permanent Orientation Camp Eziama- Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.

She stressed the need for youths to imbibe the spirit of patriotism, peace and love, noting that the measure would not only foster cohesion but accelerate development in the rural communities.

The Director General whose address was read by the Imo State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, urged the corps members to take advantage of the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development programmes available in the camp to be self employed and contribute to national development as white collar jobs were no longer easy to come by.

She advised them to get acquainted with the provisions of NYSC Act and Bye Laws to guide their conduct during and after the service year.

The representative of the Chief Judge of Imo State, Justice Lawrence Alinnor, later administered national pledge and oath of allegiance on the 1,003 corps members posted to the State.
