GOV SOLUDO SIGNS ANAMBRA 2023 BUDGET INTO LAW

Anambra State, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has signed the state’s 2023 budget of two hundred and fifty nine billion naira into law.

Professor Soludo while signing the bill at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, reiterated that the fiscal policy christened the “budget of acceleration,” prioritizes the five cardinal pillars of his administration .

The 2023 budget was first submitted to the Anambra State House of Assembly on the 10th of November 2022.

The document passed its first and second readings same day before being referred to the relevant committee of the house.

Governor Soludo explained that despite the economic downturn in the country, his administration was not relenting in the simultaneous implementation of the cardinal pillars, which included security law and order, economic transformation, human capital development and environment.

The Governor, while thanking the House of Assembly, represented by the Speaker, Mr Uchenna Okafor, and the Majority Leader, Mr. Emeka Aforka, for the expeditious passage of the 2023 appropriation bill, noted that the budget would usher the state into a glorious future.

He extolled the partnership exhibited by the legislature since the inception of his administration, and expressed optimism that it would transform the state.

Professor Soludo added that the state had not borrowed a kobo for the execution of the appropriation bill despite the initial approval by the Anambra State House of Assembly to borrow.

The government, he noted, had managed to pay contractors handling various projects in the area.

Governor Soludo hinted that his government had disbursed some amounts of money to the transition chairmen in the 21 local govt areas for various palliative work in their communities pending the completion of the roads awarded to enable free flow of traffic during the festive period.
