CENSUS: NPC TRAINS PRINCIPAL TRAINERS IN SOUTH EAST

The National Population Commission (NPC) has commenced the training of Principal Trainers for the 2023 Census in the South East geopolitical zone.
Addressing the participants in Awka, the Federal Commissioner Representing Anambra in the commission, Mr. Chidi Ezeoke, said it was aimed at equipping them with skills needed to deliver a credible process.
The participants were drawn from Abia, Anambra and Imo states, while another batch from Ebonyi and Enugu are being trained in Abakaliki.
Mr. Ezeoke, who noted that the 2023 census would be entirely digital, explained that the participants would also be exposed to the concepts and guides for the census field work.
He emphasized that the commission was interested in promoting the conduct of a reliable and verifiable census, while noting that deployment of quality personnel into the field would have positive impact on the final outcome.
Mr. Ezeoke affirmed that all infrastructure data and enumeration forms to be used during the project would be uploaded on tablets and portable computers to ensure the reliability of the census.
The NPC Federal Commissioner charged the participants to maximize the concepts of the programme to enable them function effectively in the field.
In a remark, the Director of NPC in Anambra State, Dr. Joachim Ulasi, announced that 260 personnel from the three states were taking part in the zonal exercise.
The NPC Zonal Training Centre Coordinator, Dr. Samuel Kalu, expressed happiness with the commitment of the participants to ensure the success of the census project.
Two of the participants, Prof. Happiness Obiora- Ilouno and Dr. Ngozi Ezeogidi said they had been exposed to the rudiments of the practical aspects of the census data generation.
