ARMY EXTENDS FREE MEDICAL SERVICES TO IMO OIL COMMUNITY

About five hundred residents of Etekwuru community in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State have benefitted from a free medical services organized by the Nigerian Army.
At a brief ceremony to commence the health services at the Community Primary School Etekwuru, the Commander 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze Brigadier-General Sani Suleiman said the gesture was part of measures to kick-start the 2022 Special Operation code-named “Exercise Golden Dawn 2” to ensure security in the south east during the yuletide.
He said the free health services which covered many aspects of health care would help to address the health needs of the rural dwellers.
General Suleiman, who was represented by Acting Garrison Commander in the Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Abimbola Abolade, assured the readiness of the Army to contain insecurity in the south east, adding that the Brigade would continue to promote civil-military relations.
The beneficiaries, including Chinwendu Ndukwe and Chief Fidelis Emmanuel, who spoke to journalists, expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army for remembering the community.
They noted that the gesture had afforded them the opportunity to have their their health needs addressed.
Free laboratory services, drug dispensation, free eye glasses and HIV/Tuberculosis screening services were offered alongside free distribution of insecticidal treated nets to the people.
