2023 CENSUS: NPC TRAINS NOA PERSONNEL FOR GRASSROOTS MOBILIZATION

The National Population Commission (NPC) says it will continue to sensitize and mobilize critical stakeholders and the people at the grassroots to ensure the success of the 2023 Census.
The Federal Commissioner representing Anambra State in the commission, Mr. Chidi Ezeoke, announced this during a Capacity Building Workshop organized in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) at the Industrial Training Fund, Awka Area Office.
The State Level Capacity Building Workshop on the 2023 Population and Housing Census is aimed at arming staff and Community Mobilization Officers of the National Orientation Agency with adequate information about the census.
Addressing the participants, Mr. Ezeoke, stressed that the partnership with NOA was part of efforts to strengthen its advocacy and publicity programmes.
Mr Ezeoke said that channels of information dissemination had already been established by NOA across the country to aid easy enlightenment
He noted that the workshop would broaden their knowledge of the census and enhance their field sensitization across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
Mr. Ezeoke urged citizens to be involved in the exercise, stressing that the Federal Government had invested enormous resources to ensure the conduct of a successful programme.
The Anambra State Director of the NPC, Dr. Joachim Ulasi, said the census would be entirely digital and charged the participants to use their grassroots presence to mobilize the citizens for active participation.
Contributing, NOA Director in Anambra State, Mr. Charles Nwoji, expressed the hope that the partnership would be fruitful during the census.
Two of the participants, Ms Ifeoma Chijioke and Mr. Peter Onuigbo, explained that the programme would equip them with the tools to contribute to the success of the census.
In a remark, a Deputy Director Programmes in the NOA, Mr. Joseph Uchendu, affirmed that the training would further help the agency in carrying out its national function of public enlightenment.
