SOLUDO EXEMPTS, VULCANIZERS, BARROW PUSHERS, HAWKERS FROM ANY LEVY

The Anambra State Government has terminated levy collections from vulcanizers, hawkers and wheelbarrow pushers in markets across the state.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo made the pronouncement when he played host to a second public bid auction for revenue agents in the state held at Government House, Awka.

According to Governor Soludo, his administration is passionate about building a business friendly environment for both the poor and the rich in the society.

The Governor maintained that any union found imposing any levy on vulcanizers, hawkers and wheelbarrow pushers would be dealt with and dissolved with immediate effect.

Governor Soludo explained that the essence of the bid was part of measures by his administration to ensure equal opportunity and  transparency in revenue streams as well as building a liveable and prosperous homeland .

The Anambra State Governor also pointed out that the winners would be expected to pay on or before the Oct 31, 2022, saying that in a situation whereby the winner of the bid could not meet up with payment, the next in line would be called upon.

In a speech, the Chairman of Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Richard Madiebo, emphasized the need for public bid in  helping the state to increase its internally generated revenue, which would in turn be used in providing basic infrastructure for the people of the state.

The revenue streams that were up for public bid included Statewide Gaming and Lotto Fee Collection, Statewide Public Toilet and Convenience Tolls, Statewide Abbatoir Fees, as well as the Statewide Car Wash.
