IMO STATE GOVT PLANS TO CREATE 300,000 JOBS

The Imo State Government says it plans to create over 300,000 jobs through the digital economy before the end of 2023.

The State Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, Prince Ford Ozumba, gave the indication in Owerri when the General Manager Radio Nigeria, Heartland Fm Owerri, Mr. Kenechukwu Anyanwu visited him in his office.

Prince Ozumba said the government was collaborating with foreign partners to migrate many unemployed youths to the digital space, noting that the commitment had led to the establishment of a ministry of digital economy in the state.

Prince Ozumba explained that the government was determined to improve the welfare of workers in the state, hence the introduction of 13th month salary, introduction of free transport services and approval of health insurance for workers in the state.

He stated that promotion letters of workers, who were due, would soon be released and urged the workforce to continue to reciprocate the gestures through hard work.

Prince Ozumba commended Radio Nigeria Heartland FM Owerri for professionalism in the discharge of duties and pledged to support the establishment in realizing its goals.

The General Manager Heartland Fm Owerri, Mr. Kenechukwu Anyanwu, said the visit was to familiarize with the ministry, which he said had distinguished itself in service to humanity.

He said that FRCN would continue to give adequate publicity to the activities of the government but solicited the cooperation of the government to enable it achieve its mandate.

The General Manager was accompanied by the Head of Programmes department of the station, Mrs. Faith Mbaleme.
