REPORTER: OBY ARINZE

Anambra State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has charged vehicle drivers to always adhere to road safety rules and regulations while using the roads, especially in these ember months.

The Sector Commander, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, gave the charge during the launch of the 2022 Ember Months Safety Campaign in Awka, the state capital.

Mr. Irelewuyi explained that the Safety Campaign was to enlighten motorists on the numerous dangers of engaging in reckless driving habits.

Also, the Zonal Commander in charge of Anambra, Delta and Edo States, Mr. Chukwuma Njoku, advised motorists against night travels, which he noted often attracted various unpalatable consequences.

For his part, FRSC Anambra Command Ambassador, Chief Vincent Udobi, represented by his Personal Assistant, Mr. Chukwudozie Modilim Owalla, thanked the command for their numerous activities towards reducing road crashes within Anambra State.

Earlier in his goodwill message, the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by the Commissioner for Transport, Mrs. Pat Igwebuike, noted that his administration had declared the State of Emergency on road infrastructure as part of the government’s efforts to reduce avoidable road crashes.

The theme of the event is “Avoid over-speeding, overloading and unsafe tyres to arrive alive.”
