EBONYI STATE GOVT TO STUDY JUDGMENT NULLIFYING LG ELECTION

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has described the judgment of Federal High Court Abakaliki nullifying the just conducted council election as curious.

A statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Strategy, Mr. Chooks Oko, noted that none of the grounds of the litigants included nullification of the election as ordered by the court.

The statement wondered why the court came up with the order when all laid down procedures were followed in the Election.

The statement noted that not minding the judgment, Governor Umahi still believed in the judiciary as the bastion of justice, emphasising that government’s team of lawyers would study the judgment to know the best way forward.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the state government had fixed September 1, 2022 as date for the swearing in of the elected Chairmen and Councillors before the nullification.
