GOV SOLUDO LAYS FOUNDATION OF WEST AFRICA’S BIGGEST DRUG MARKET IN OBA

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has restated his administration’s commitment to rid the state of fake and adulterated drugs.
Governor Soludo made this known while performing the ground breaking for the contruction of the largest International Drug Distribution Centre in West Africa at Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area.
Governor Soludo said on completion of the market, every open drug and pharmaceutical stalls at Bridge Head Market Onitsha and Ose Okwodu would be relocated to the complex.
The Governor observed that the project is synonymous with his administration’s general plan of building a liveable and prosperous homeland.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, who stressed the imperativeness of controlling the environment where drugs are sold, pointed out the importance of the centre to the people of Anambra.
Dr. Obidike maintained that existence of an open drug market had led to all kinds of distribution of fake and adulterated drugs.
The Chairman of Central Pharmaceuticals and Allied Products, Mr. Uche Eze, who is in charge of the Center, pointed out that the project was keyed into the Federal Government drug distribution policy to ensure that the drugs being sold were safe and of quality.
Also, the Regent of Oba kingdom, Prince Nuel Ezenwa, explained that the project would bring sanity to drug distribution in the South east.
The Chairman of Ogbo Ogwu Market, Onitsha, Mr. Chileta Ndubuisi, noted that the project would help to remove fake drugs in the sector and commended the governor and his team for making the day a reality, promising commitment to seeing the realization of the project.
