ENUGU POLICE COMMAND BEGINS MANHUNT OF MGBUJI EHA AMUFU ATTACKERS

Enugu State Police Command has appealed for valuable information that will aid in the arrest of gunmen who attacked and killed three people in Mgbuji Community, Eha-Amufu in Isiuzo Local Government Area.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abubakar Lawal, made the appeal when he visited the Community to assess the security situation in the company of some security heads in the state.

This is contained in statement the Police Public Relations Office in the state, Mr. Daniel Ndukwe Ekea made available to journalists.

“Following the resurgent violent attack at Ogbete-Mgbuji in Eha-Amufu Community of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abubakar Lawal, fdc, alongside the State Director, Department of State Services (DSS) Enugu, H. M. Daluwa; the Commander, 82 Division Garrison Command of the Nigerian Army Enugu, Brig. Gen. M. K. Ibrahim; Commander, 553 Services Base Group of the Nigerian Air Force Enugu, Air Commodore I. A. Taiwo, and other Senior Police Officers; today, 17/06/2022, visited Eha-Amufu community to assess the security situation in the area, alleged to have been caused by Farmers/Herders crises within farm settlements of the community, bordering Enugu and Benue States,” the statement read.

Thee statement noted that the Police Commissioner reassured members of the community of commitment of security agencies to handle recurring attacks in the area.

He interacted with the members of the community on the development and asked for information that would lead to apprehending the criminals.

“The Commissioner used the opportunity of the visit to address and interact with members of the Community, at Obibi-Mgbuji Village Square; and re-assured them of the Police and other Security Agencies’ commitment to decisively tackle the violent attacks in the area.

“He, however, called on them to be vigilant, law-abiding and promptly volunteer useful information that will help the Security Operatives to contain activities of the assailants,” the statement indicated.

According to the statement, “the CP and entourage was received and guided by the Area Commander, Udenu Area Command, ACP Edwin Egwuekwe, and a team of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area leadership, led by the Vice Chairman, Mr. Ogechukwu Nnamani.”

Meanwhile, the statement added that the Command had begun manhunt of the assailants.

Recall that the yet-to-be identified assailants, on June 13, 2022 attacked and murdered three male victims at Ogbete-Mgbuji area of the community, who were confirmed dead by doctors and deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
