COMBINED SECURITY FORCE DESTROY KIDNAPPERS’ DEN, ARREST TWO IN OBA, ANAMBRA

Police Command has destroyed a kidnappers’ den where their victims are kept at Okpunoetiti, Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area.

It is alleged that other nefarious activities being carried at the destroyed camp.

The Police, aided by a combined team of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Army and local vigilance group, stormed the area and demolished an old bungalow and one uncompleted building within the compound.

Trees, which the kidnappers used as shade, were also felled by pail loaders.

Some of the kidnappers, on citing the combined force, took to their heels while two persons, including a 65 year old man and a young man in his 40s were captured and handed over to the police for further investigations.

The hoodlums were allegedly responsible for the kidnap of a Reverend Father who had since been rescued.

Some ammunition and dangerous weapons, including one barrel gun, one revolver pistol, cutter, matchet, charms, mask and wraps of indian helm as well as tramadol were said to have been recovered at the scene.

Reacting to the development, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, while reiterating his administration’s resolve to demolish the den of kidnappers in the state, frowned at the complacency of residents in the area, thanking the combined security force for their gallantry.

The raid was led by the Commissioner for Homeland Affairs in company of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, alongside some journalists that witnessed the operation.
