Anambra State Government says security of lives and property of the people remains its top priority.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who made this known in a holy mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Ekwulobia, explained that the prayer session organized in the state and south east zone of the country would officially mark the end of the sit at home order.
Governor Soludo, who described security as everybody’s business, also urged the youths to rise and secure their localities from foreigners terrorising the people.
Professor Soludo noted that Ekwulobia was worst hit by insecurity, urging the people to continue to pray for justice and quick release of Nnamdi Kanu.
The Governor also called on all the aggrieved groups and agitators to join him in pushing for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
He expressed the hope that markets, schools, offices and social activities would resume fully by Monday next week.
Earlier, in a sermon, the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia, the Most Rev. Peter Okpaleke, urged the people of the South-East to pray for lasting peace.
He used the opportunity to pray for peace and justice for the oppressed in the South-East and the country at large.
The Most Rev. Okpaleke explained that the prayer session was to seek God’s intervention and directions in the face of insecurity and for the people to achieve their demands.
He urged the youth not to lose confidence in their parents, even as he called on parents to train their children in ways that would glorify God.
Radio Nigeria observed that there was low turnout people, as shops and streets looked deserted.
