EASTER CELEBRATION: FRSC DEPLOYS OVER 1000 PERSONNEL TO MANAGE TRAFFIC IN ANAMBRA
REPORTER: OBY ARINZE
Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State says it has deployed about four hundred and eighty Regular Marshals and over six hundred Special Marshals to ensure free flow of movement in the area ahead of the Easter celebration
The Sector Commander, FRSC in the State, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, who made this known to journalists in Awka, also assured motorists of the command’s preparedness to reduce road crashes during Easter.
He explained that over one thousand personnel had been deployed to major roads across the state, including Awka, Onitsha, Ihiala and Abagana axis.
The FRSC boss pointed out that it had mapped out plans, which included traffic controls and prompt response to emergency traffic situations to ensure quick resolution of emergencies and promote free flow of traffic.
Speaking on the constant traffic gridlock being experienced at the Bridge Head, Onitsha, the Sector Commander attributed the situation to non-removal of obstructions within and around the axis.
He said one of the major causes of the traffic experienced at the Bridge Head was the heavy duty vehicles that usually broke down either at the entrance or within the bridge.
According to the Sector Commander, “the cheering news is that we are working in collaboration with the Delta State Government, FRSC in Delta State and Anambra State Government to tow trucks obstructing movement in the axis.”
Mr. Irelewuyi reiterated that the command was fully prepared for the challenges of Easter festivities and advised motorists to obey all traffic rules and regulations, ensure that their vehicles were in good conditions and avoid overloading.
