UMAHI TO SUPPORTERS: NO CAUSE FOR ALARM, I FILED STAY OF EXECUTION AT COURT OF APPEAL
REPORTER: AMECHI ODO
Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State says there is no cause for alarm over the ruling by a Federal High Court in Abuja that struck out his motion on notice for stay of execution he filed against the judgment that sacked him and his Deputy, Dr. Kelechi Igwe, from office.
Addressing Party Stakeholders at Government House Abakaliki, Governor Umahi explained that his motion was struck out because he had appealed the March 8, Judgment.
He noted that he had filed an appeal in a superior Court, which made it compeling for the Federal High Court to strike out the motion on notice.
Governor Umahi said he would not have an anointed successor, noting that anyone preparing to take over from him on May 29, 2023 must have the capacity to win election.
He called on a Committee on zoning set up by the state government to quickly visit the three senatorial districts with a view to feeling the pulse of the people on elective positions in the state.
Governor Umahi emphasised that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would adopt direct primaries to test the popularity of candidates that would stand for election in the state.
