NSCDC SOLICITS COOPERATION FROM IMO RESIDENTS TO TACKLE CRIMINALITY

REPORTER: CHINAZO ILECHUKWU

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Imo State Command has appealed to residents of the area to always avail the corps of useful information to facilitate its operations.

The State Commandant of the Corps, Mr. Micheal Ogar, made the call during the 2022 World’s Civil Defence Day held at the Command’s headquarters in Owerri.

He said the Command under his watch had reduced oil bunkering to the barest, recovered arms and ammunition from criminal suspects, as well as nabbed suspected fraudsters who had swindled persons in the state.

Mr. Ogar explained that apart from protecting national critical infrastructure, the Command was involved in managing disasters, fighting against pandemics and sensitizing the public to safety measures.

The theme of the 2022 event is “Civil defence and management of displaced population in the face of disaster and crises; the role of NSCDC in the fight against pandemic.”

The event featured lectures and displays by the Command’s women response squad.
