REPORTER: CHUKWUKA AGUKWE

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has called on the people of the state to consider the vaccination of COVID-19 as a golden opportunity that should not be missed in the prevention of the dreaded disease.

The Governor made this known at the commencement of COVID-19 community mass prevention campaign at the Ndubuisi Kanu Square Owerri.

Governor Uzodimma noted that the event became imperative owing to the fact that Imo was lagging behind amongst other states doing their best to get their citizens vaccinated.

According to the Governor, it is government’s commitment to protect citizens and residents of the state against the COVID-19 and particularly the latest Onmicron Variant.

The Governor promised the people that the vaccine would be taken to door steps of every citizen and resident of Imo State.

He assured the health workers of government support in providing tools to enhance their work.

Earlier, in a welcome address, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Prosper Ohayagha, informed that in an effort to carry out a successful community Mass Vaccination, the Ministry in collaboration with support groups, had trained medical workers and volunteers to respond promptly to emergency situations both at the state and local levels.
