Governor, Chief Willie Obiano of Anambra State says he will not relent in giving the state capital a face-lift it deserves, especially in the area of infrastructure and housing.
Governor Obiano stated this when he paid an inspection visit at Awka Millenium City project in Agu-Awka.
According to the Governor, the Awka Millenium City, a smart city in Awka, which is done under a Public-Private Partnership Model, is a response to his administration’s constant “Aku Luo Uno” Call from inception.
He explained that work had reached advanced stage as critical infrastructure, including access roads, drainage system, street lights and water supply facilities were fast springing up in the area.
Governor Obiano, who expressed optimism that the project would be the best smart city in the South east when completed, urged Anambra indigenes living in the diaspora and within the state to patronise the estate.
The Governor emphasized that the aku luo uno policy was still in place, expressing happiness that such project was attracted under his leadership.
The Officer managing the project, Chief Clem Nwogbo, said that the challenge they had was draining the site, which had been successfully completed, praising the Governor for being a development champion.
Chief Nwagbo stated that they were leveraging on what the Governor had provided to create a convergence for people to live and operate from.
Meanwhile the total investment value of the project is $46.5 Million with the state government donating the land as equity, which has the Profit sharing formular of 73% for M-P Infrastructure, 24% for Anambra State Government, while 3% is for the community social responsibility projects.
Governor Obiano performed the ground breaking and inauguration of the facilities for the City, situated within the 3-Arms Zone, by Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Agu Awka in 2019.
