EBONYI STATE GOVT DECLARES FORMER FEDERAL LAWMAKER WANTED
REPORTER: AMECHI ODO
Ebonyi State Government has declared a former member of House of Representatives, Mr. Linus Okorie, wanted for alleged publication that caused the beheading of an Ebubeagu operative in Ikwo Local Government Area.
Briefing journalists at the end of the State Security Council meeting at Government House Abakaliki, the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Uchenna Orji, claimed that Mr. Okorie’s facebook post was traced to an inflammatory publication that resulted in the attack against Ebubeagu operative.
Also, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Mr. Cletus Ofoke, said the state government had reviewed the command structure of Ebubeagu to forestall a repeat of the torture of a suspect by an Ebubeagu operative captured in a viral video, which triggered violence in Akaeze Community, Ivo Local Government Area.
Mr. Ofoke noted that the Law setting up Ebubeagu was being expanded to accommodate a Complaint Committee while efforts were on to decongest Correctional centres in the state.
However, in a reaction to the declaration of the State Executive Council, Mr. Linus Okorie said his life was in danger, noting that there was a lawful procedure that should be followed before he could be declared wanted.
