The Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, the Most Reverend Emmanuel Chukwuma, says the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the death is the birth of faith of Christianity.

The Most Reverend Chukwuma stated this in a sermon at a special service to mark Easter at the Cathedral Church of the Good Shepherd, Enugu.

Archbishop Chukwuma said without the resurrection of Christ from the dead, humanity would have been in perpetual misery and bondage of hell fire.

According to the Archbishop, Christ rose from the dead and that those who are in Christ and die in Christ, shall also rise with Him at His second coming.

The Anglican Archbishop used the opportunity to appeal to the Federal Government to harken to the demands of Resident Doctors to save more Nigerians from dying, while calling for improved infrastructure in the country’s health institutions to stop more Nigerian doctors traveling abroad in search of greener pastures.

He also called on the government to take proactive steps to arrest growing insecurity in the country and restore the confidence of Nigerians in the leadership.

The clergyman also called on the governors of the southeast to urgently convoke a security summit with critical stakeholders to develop a lasting strategy that would address the rising insecurity in the zone.

He further called on the Federal Government to listen to the agitations of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) to avert the planned nationwide indefinite strike expected to commence on Tuesday.

The service featured special renditions and prayers for the country.
