RAIN DELAYS THE ISUANIOCHA-MGBAKWU ROAD PROJECT

The continued rainfall this year is said to be hampering the pace of work at the ongoing reconstruction of Isuaniocha-Mgbakwu Road in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The Director of the firm handling the project, Mr. Luke Aniakor, made this known in an interview with journalists in Awka.

According to him, efforts were on to ensure speedy completion of the road in record time despite challenges.

Mr. Aniakor therefore appealed to residents of Mgbakwu and road users to be patient as work would continue immediately the rains subsided to give way for speedy completion of the project.

He noted that of the over three kilometer road project, which is expected to terminate at the Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu, about two kilometers had been completed.

The contractor noted that the Anambra State Government through the Ministry of Works, was fully monitoring and inspecting the level and quality of work being done on the road noting that there won’t be any reason to compromise standards.

He expressed confidence that when completed, the road would not only stand the test of time but also would open up the agrarian communities in line with the Governor Willie Obiano’s mandate of attracting development to the grassroots.

The road, which connects several communities in Awka North, is also the only access road that leads to the Broadcasting House of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Purity FM, and the state owned polytechnic.
