COLLAPSED BUILDING IN ONITSHA CLAIMS 2 LIVES,4 INJURED
Two persons have been confirmed dead and four others critically injured when a three story building under construction in Onitsha Anambra State collapsed.
The victims who were workers on the building were trapped under the rubbles for hours before being rescued.
Among the dead persons were the Chief Engineer.
Eyewitnesses to the incident attributed the collapse to use of substandard materials in the construction.
In their separate reactions, Mrs Stella Osakwe and Miss Cynthia Morah expressed sadness over the incident and called on Government to map out stringent penalties for owners of such property in the State.
The injured persons were taken to the intensive care unit of Holy Rosary Hospital Waterside and the General Hospital Onitsha by members of the Red Cross Society.
