CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY OBSERVES HOLY THURSDAY
Some Christian denominations across the world observe today as Holy Thursday to commemorate the last supper Jesus Christ had with his disciples.
The day also known as “Maundy Thursday” is celebrated annually to mark the institution of the Holy Eucharist and the symbolic washing of the feet of Jesus disciples.
Speaking on the importance of the celebration, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, the Most Reverend CallistusOnaga explained that it was a day all the priests in the Catholic Church commemorate their priesthood and renew their priestly vow.
The Vicar, Saint Peter’s Anglican Church Thinkers’ Corner Enugu, Venerable ChukwumaOkafor urged public office holders to emulate humility in service as exhibited by Jesus Christ.
Services are to be held in some denominations which normally feature washing of feet of some faithful and blessing of oil.
